Crossword Cybersecurity Plc (“Crossword”) the ISDX listed tech transfer company, is to partner with the University of Surrey to jointly explore commercial opportunities leveraging patented research in advanced information hiding.
Dr Shujun Li, Deputy Director of the Surrey Centre for Cyber Security (SCCS) has conducted advanced research in the area of information hiding using information systems. The approach provides a highly efficient way to encode information into the normal ebb and flow of everyday use of computer systems. Crossword is working exclusively with Dr Shujun Li’s team to commercialise their work.
Tom Ilube, Crossword’s CEO said “University of Surrey is a world leader in the field of cyber security and is one of only 13 universities to be awarded Centre of Excellence status by the UK Government. We believe Surrey’s information hiding research will help tackle confidentiality and privacy problems faced worldwide by organisations and citizens alike.”
Dr Shujun Li, lead researcher on the project explained: “This research, for which a patent has been filed, provides a highly effective and covert way to scramble information into the daily use of information systems. This work reflects the Centre’s expertise in secure communications and as a result Crossword is working with our team of cyber security experts to develop its work into a highly flexible platform to meet today’s cyber security challenges”.
