9 April 2024 – London, UK - Crossword Cybersecurity Plc (AIM:CCS, “Crossword”, the “Company” or the “Group”), the cybersecurity solutions company focused on cyber strategy and risk, is pleased to announce its managed cyber-security monitoring service, Nightingale, has had a strong performance in the first quarter of 2024.
A key driver for this growth has been international expansion in the Caribbean region, where managed services are being delivered via a local partner, to organisations across the telecommunications, insurance, automotive, and oil and gas sectors. Crossword’s partner has been appointed as a preferred cyber security provider for several organisations in the Caribbean, which will be delivered across a series of multi-year contracts.
Additionally, this has led to a contract to provide incident response services, following a major cyber-attack on a critical national infrastructure provider, and follow-on cyber security monitoring services.
Cyber incident response continues to be a focus area in the Caribbean and European markets, where Nightingale, the cyber monitoring solution, is used to detect continuing indicators of compromise. In the Caribbean, Crossword has recently completed comprehensive response engagements for organisations suffering major and public-impacting breaches by cyber threat actors. Threat actors are individuals or groups that intentionally cause harm to digital devices or systems and exploit vulnerabilities in computer systems, networks and software to perpetuate various cyberattacks, including phishing, ransomware and malware attacks.
The Nightingale service continues to evolve, with the most recent addition being full alignment throughout the service to the upcoming NIST CSF 2.0 framework, from the US Government’s National Institute of Standard and Technology. This has been developed to help firms adopt a strong cyber framework to demonstrate cyber security maturity, particularly firms in regulated industries that have enhanced audit and compliance needs. As part of the Nightingale service, regular compliance reports are produced along with a suite of technical assessments which enable organisations to report on and prove adherence to the framework.
Crossword is continuing to enhance Nightingale’s monitoring, response, and SOC (Security Operating Centre) capabilities with a substantial breadth and depth of data collection and integration with systems including Darktrace, Microsoft Defender and Sentinel. Threat intelligence continues to play an ever more important role in Nightingale, with an increasing amount of threat detection feeds powering the platform's threat detection. The Nightingale service brings together Crossword’s Trillion Breach and Harvista products under a fully managed services offering, giving ever increasing visibility of activity on the dark web.
Stuart Jubb, Group Managing Director, Crossword Cybersecurity Plc said: “Crossword is excited to be working in the Caribbean region, leading with our managed cyber security services. The Caribbean is becoming increasingly targeted by global threat actors, and our Nightingale service is exceptionally well placed to provide a fully managed and tailored solution to help organisations protect against these growing threats.”
